Reflexology
About me the Reflexologist
As a Reflexologist, I was luckily enough to be trained by world-renowned Reflexologist Beryl Crane, who herself trained in China. Beryl founded the Crane School of Reflexology in Essex England.
She became a fellow of the Reflexologists’ Society in 1989, and also became their Chairperson in 1995. And in 1999 she became the President of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Reflexology.
I am qualified in Reflexology (CSR), Reflex Zone Therapy (ITEC) and Anatomy and Physiology Theory (ITEC)
I qualified with Beryl Crane in 1994.
What is Reflexology and Reflex Zone Therapy?
Reflexology is an ancient healing practice and its origins can be found in China, Egypt and India. Native Americans also used the practice of Reflexology.
I studied in the Chinese style of Reflexology, which is also known as Zone Therapy and has been practiced for over 3,000 years.
Reflexology is a more widely used term these days than Zone Therapy, and has a different emphasis relating more to theory.
This mixture of Reflexology/Zone Therapy is considered to be a healing art, a science, or a mixture of the two.
What does Reflexology do?
As an ancient technique, it treats the whole body by pressing reflex points mapping of organs and body systems onto the foot (hand, ear or face) via a technique known as thumb walking. Thus the body parts each lie in a particular zone and have a reflex, that lie in the corresponding zone. This, in turn, affects different organs in the body through the meridian system and through different zones relating to each organ.
Reflexology is a holistic approach to medicine and is an aid, not a cure. Like Qi Gong and Tai Chi, you will hear about the movement of energy and unblocking.
What might unfold after an hour of Reflexology?
Reflexology invites the body into a state of deep parasympathetic rest. After an hour, many clients experience many things, such as...
A softened nervous system:
Speech slows, breath deepens, and the body begins to release tension. You may feel lighter, quieter, or more internally spacious.
Subtle shifts in emotional tone:
Some clients feel tearful, others euphoric. Reflexology often opens pathways for gentle emotional processing, especially if stress has been held in the body.
Sensory clarity:
Warmth in the feet, tingling through the limbs, or a sense of grounded openness in the chest. These are signs of circulation and energy flow rebalancing.
Digestive and sleep support:
As the body recalibrates, you may notice smoother digestion or deeper sleep within 24–48 hours.
🌀 Integration in the hours that follow...
Reflexology doesn’t end when the session does. The body continues to metabolise the experience:
🔸️You may feel thirsty, sleepy, or mildly disoriented as systems recalibrate.
🔸️Emotions may surface gently - this is part of the body’s natural unwinding.
🔸️Some clients report feeling “more themselves,” with clearer boundaries and a softened internal landscape.
🌸 Aftercare suggestions...
🔹️Hydrate generously to assist lymphatic flow and cellular recalibration.
🔹️Rest or journal if emotions arise - this honours the body’s processing.
🔹️Avoid overstimulation (screens, errands, intense conversations, alcohol) for a few hours, 24 hours if possible.
Reflexology treatments are available:
From 4:30pm Monday to Thursday.
From 1:30pm on Fridays
and 12:30pm, 1:40pm or 2:50 pm on Saturdays.
